Alyssa Arwood: (2011–2015) Alyssa was an outstanding swimmer at TC Roberson. She was All Conference and qualified for the 4-A State Championship meet all four years. In her senior year, Alyssa was the 4-A State Champion in the 100 breaststroke and set the state meet record in that event. She also finished 7th in the 50 freestyle, and her 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams placed in the top six at the 2015 state meet. She was named an All American. The year prior, Alyssa placed 3rd in the 100 breaststroke and 4th in the 50 freestyle at the state meet. For all her outstanding accomplishments in her senior year, Alyssa was chosen as the Western North Carolina Female Athlete of the Year in 2015. While at Roberson, she was the MAC conference 2015 Swimmer of the Year, named an academic All American, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Alyssa set and still holds the TC Roberson school records in the 100 breaststroke and the 50 freestyle. Alyssa also swam in the YMCA club program, qualifying for eight YMCA National Championships. In her YMCA career, she was a five-time National Champion in three breaststroke events, setting a national record in the 100 yard breaststroke in 2015. After graduating from Roberson, Alyssa was recruited to Duke University where she swam as a Blue Devil all four years. While at Duke, Alyssa was a three-year member of the All ACC Honor Roll. She finished with the 8th best time ever recorded at Duke in the 100 breaststroke. She graduated from Duke University with a BA degree in Public Policy Studies. Alyssa began her career as a business analyst at Capital One and then worked in human resources and business operations at a private equity firm in New York City. She is now pursuing her MBA from Columbia Business School to graduate in May 2025 and lives and works in the New York City area.
