Election Committee
To ensure a fair and unbiased election, ASCBC's stipulate that an Elections Committee will administer the election. According to ASCBC's Bylaws, Article IV, Section 8:
Elections Committee:
The Chairperson of the Elections Committee may not be a candidate for any elected ASCBC officer position. The Chairperson of the Elections Committee shall be appointed by a majority vote of the committee members.
Individuals serving on the Elections Committee shall not seek office in any section of the elections for which they are presiding nor shall they support and/or endorse any candidate or slate of candidates on any platform at any time.
Membership:
The membership of the Elections Committee shall consist of:
At least three members of the General Assembly, representing multiple schools;
One member of City Schools Board Office staff; and
The Regional Advisor of ASCBC.
Members of the General Assembly shall be selected to serve on the Elections Committee after receiving a nomination from their Student Government Association advisor, completing an application, and taking an oath to uphold the responsibilities of the Elections Committee.
The responsibilities of the Elections Committee shall be, but are not limited to:
To administer a fair election in accordance with the ASCBC Bylaws, Article III;
To draft, approve, and publicize communications regarding official campaign period events and forums, deadlines, and election results;
To draft, approve, and publicize materials to support elections at schools, including voter guides, posters, classroom materials, and guidance for administering the election;
To plan, publicize, and oversee district-wide voter engagement events, including the candidate Town Hall;
To plan and oversee the Nominating Convention;
To approve the ballot;
To receive reports of campaign violations as defined by the ASCBC Bylaws, Article III, review provided evidence, determine the validity of reports, determine the severity of any violations, and administer penalties if needed;
To advise the ASCBC Executive Board or General Assembly of any requisite changes to election procedure as a result of extenuating circumstances;
To collaborate with Baltimore City Schools staff, Board members, and the ASCBC Executive Board in the development of any necessary amendments or modifications to the election procedures outlined in the ASCBC Bylaws, Article III; and
To certify and announce the election results.

Are you passionate about leadership and advocating for other youth? You should apply for a leadership position in the Associated Student Congress of Baltimore City! All rising 6-12th graders are eligible.
Application Window: April 29-May 31, 11:59PM.
Interviews will take place virtually in June/July and appointments will take place in July/August.
