ASCBC's mission is to serve the 77,000+ students across Baltimore City Schools by building their capacity as leaders and advocating for students' perspectives on a district, city, and state level.
To accomplish this goal, ASCBC:
Provides training for students in the areas of leadership, communication, representation, advocacy, and organizing.
Involves students in the policy and legislative processes at the school district, city, and state level.
Provides a forum for student leaders from student governments across the district to communicate and exchange ideas.
Represents the views of Baltimore City students to the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners, Baltimore City Council, Maryland General Assembly, Maryland Association of Student Councils, and other student-related organizations.
Provides input to and collaborates with district offices seeking to change school policy or launch new initiatives affecting students.
Encourages and assists member schools in developing their student government associations.
Shares information with member schools about issues affecting student activities occurring around the city.
Serves as the citywide student government organization whose daily concern is the involvement of students in the development of their education and society.
ASCBC is democratically elected by all City Schools students grades 6-12. See our elections page for more information.
