We adopted a school-wide sustainability theme of waste reduction for 2020 and we are reducing waste in so many ways, including by piloting a composting program and crafting with repurposed or recycled materials.
We launched a recycled clothing boutique called the Fashion Free Store, where families can drop off or pick up gently used clothing and accessories, including warm gear for winter.
Our rotating art installations of student-created murals use a minimum of 75% recycled materials.
We connected students to incredible outdoor learning experiences, like outings to Great Kids Farm for 1st through 3rd graders, student-led camping trips for 4th and 5th graders, outdoor education and team-building overnights for 6th and 7th graders, and primitive camping and hiking for our 8th graders.
Students enjoy classroom share bowls, where students can place any unwanted healthy snacks so a hungry peer can help themselves and food waste is lowered.
