This is my first idea - it has a seal head and body, a whale tail, gills, lungs and webbed feet. It has claws and lots of fur to keep warm. Its legs are strong so it can pull itself out of the water.
This is my first design for my creature. It has a bird body and feet with ski runners on the bottom, fish gills, octopus tentacles and a narwhal horn with a light on the end.
This is my first idea - it has a polar bear body and lots of fur and blubber. It has a seal tail and claws. It has big paws for swimming quickly. It has lots of fur to keep warm while its swimming.
Nalerseal-Pinnimonodon
Our creature is called Nalerseal. It's scientific name is Pinnimonodon. It is a cross between a seal and a narwhal with bird feet and fish gills. It has a lot of blubber just like a seal.
Physical & Behavioral Characteristics
Some physical characteristics are that the Nalerseal has a seal body to help it keep warm and to help it swim. They also have a narwhal horn to help it spear prey and a light to see at night. It has both gills and lungs so that it can breathe both above and below the water. Fully grown, they can grow up to the size of an adult polar bear (approx 200-250cm for a male and 180-200cm for females). One of it's very special adaptations is ski feet which help it glide across the ice to hunt and get away from predators. It has webbed feet to help it swim but these do not get in the way of the skis. The Nalerseal gives birth to live young (on land).
Habitat
The Pinnimonodon lives in the sea but it also lives on land. It lives near the equator of Planet X where the temperature ranges from -90℃ to 16℃. There is some plant life near the equator of Planet X but not a lot. It can swim down to about 30m below the surface using it's fish gills. If in the unlikely event of its gills failing or being hurt, it can hold it's breath for about 2 hours.
Diet
The Nalerseals' diet is other seals, fish, baby sharks, baby orcas and baby whales. They also eat plants and seaweed. The baby Nalerseal eats tiny fish and seaweed. The ski feet are there so they can get away quickly and catch their prey quickly. The webbed feet help them swim faster.
The Nalerseal got it's name because we took the names Narwhal and Seal and combined them to come up with Nalerseal. It's scientific name comes from the narwhals’ scientific name Monodon Monoceros and the seal's scientific name, Pinnipedia. We put them together and we got the name Pinnimonodon.

Once the Nalerseal finds a mate they are together for life. They give birth on land. This is so the baby doesn't drown. It is as big as a fully grown polar bear.
The baby Nalerseal has no horn or light until it is one year old. This is because until it is three years old it lives with its parents. If you saw this in person it would be about the size of a polar bear cub.
This is the Nalerseals land habitat/home . It has a lake to swim in and some moutains with a cave. There are some plants for it to eat and some rocks to lie on.
This is a picture of both the land and water habitats(see left and right).
This is the Nalerseal's under water habitat/home. It has plants, rocks, and moss. It is deep water so it can swim further and do more exercise.
Adult Nalerseal Characteristics
Ski feet
The adults' ski feet are less prominent than the babies'.
Horn
Only adult nalerseal have horns.
Whale Tail
The whale tail helps the nalerseal swim quickly through the water.
Blubber
Like a seal the nalerseal has a lot of blubber to keep warm.
Baby Nalerseal Characteristics
Ski feet
The babies' ski feet are more prominent than the adults'.
Shackles
All nalerseal have these shackles and they stretch and expand as the nalerseal grow.
Whale Tail
The tail helps them swim through the water quickly.
Blubber
The baby nalerseals have less blubber than the adults.
This is the first legend about the shackles: They are a special thing. They are stuck to the Nalerseal for life and you can not remove them. They grow as the Nalerseal grows and they are like a magic power that helps it breathe with both gills and lungs. It switches it out like when its on land it switches to lungs and when its on water it switches to gills.
This is the second legend: The shackles on its legs are a result of the giant squid. The giant squid ate a nalerseal once and nearly choked to death, so it shackled the nalerseal and all that came after it. So the shackles on its legs are forever there.
