Once a year, a group of Badin students will go on a mission trip to a third world country. This year the group is going to Guatemala.
Two of this year’s participants are Adam Salek and Jack Feenstra, both juniors at Badin.
“I can't wait to meet the children in Guatemala and help them,” Salek said when asked if he is excited to go on the trip.
While on the trip, the team will do a great many things, like build houses, help feed the Guatemalans and much more.
To be able to go on the mission trip, Salek and Feenstra had to apply, get teacher recommendations and write a paper.
When asked about why they applied, Feenstra said, “I thought it would be a fun experience and it would be good for the soul.”
Salek said, “I choose to go on the trip because I thought it would be a real eye- opening experience.”
The service trip can be nerve-wracking for some due to the fact you are going to a country without your parents and with people you don't know but Salek and Feenstra seem to be unphased by it.
“Nothing as of right now, Mrs. Halverson is really hyping it up so i'm more excited rather than nervous,” Salek said when asked about the trip.
