The spring concert on Thursday May 9, is a way for students to connect through music.
There are many different genres of music in the spring concert, but Mr. McCormick has a favorite.
“I like a lot of different genres of music, but I would have to choose jazz. There’s just so many different parts to it, it’s really some of the most fun music to listen and play,” McCormick said.
It isn’t just jazz music in the concert, there are several genres of music that the musicians will be playing.
“The main genres in the concert are pop and jazz, but there’s also classic rock, progressive rock, hair metal, and synth pop,” McCormick said.
There are many different types and genres of songs, but there will always be a favorite.
“I really like ‘New York New York’ by Frank Sinatra. It’s a jazz song, and it’s one of my favorites, I’m really happy we get to play it,” McCormick said.
With the spring concert always comes seniors graduating from the music program.
“This year, we have five seniors. It’s kind of bittersweet. I’m happy that they’re moving on to bigger and better things, but I’m upset that they’re leaving,” McCormick said.
It’s much more than a concert for Mr. McCormick, as people are leaving the music program, and others are making their first appearances in a concert.
“My favorite part of the concert has to be seeing kids who have never performed before, playing music. Seeing the smiles on their faces and seeing how much fun they have is definitely my favorite part,” McCormick said.
