Ashlyn Hillman has family from all around the world. Her family immigrated from Mexico in 1860 because America was starting to boom. She has family from all across the globe, but has more immediate family in Mexico, Canada and The United States.
”I have family in four different countries, such as Canada, Mexico, Turkey, and of course the U.S, although I am related to my family in Turkey by marriage” Hillman said.
She has two very diverse parents, each from numerous different countries.
”On my mom’s side I am German, Scottish, and Irish. On my dad’s side I'm Scottish, Cherokee, German, and Mexican,” said Hillman.
She has never met any of her family from Mexico. It is her dream to one day make it to Mexico and finally meet her tìo and Abuela and to be able to talk to them in person.
“One day I hope to visit the countries that my ancestors came from and hopefully meet some family members there,” Hillman said.
Hillman is very outgoing and friendly because of her heritage.
“I am very proud of my heritage, and I’m proud to be who I am.”
