Basketball has been a part of Emma Broermann’s life since she was only four years old, and now she is taking the next step in her career. The senior at Badin High School just committed to the University of North Florida to play basketball.
Playing at a high level has been in Emma’s mind most of her life.
Broermann said, “Playing Division I basketball has been a goal ever since I was little because my uncle played at Indiana State.”
Although North Florida was her final choice, Broermann sparked interest from a wide number of colleges.
Broermann said, “I was looking at Lake Erie College, Austin Peay State, University of Charleston, Gannon University, and La Salle University.”
A decision between all these great schools was obviously a tough one, and she admits she couldn’t make it herself.
Emma said she had help from her “parents, and my AAU coaches.”
However, after visiting North Florida, she knew she wanted to be an Osprey.
“I went down there and I loved the campus. I felt like I fit in with the girls, and it was in Florida.”
Although Florida is very tempting, UNF is a long ways to be separated from home.
”It’s only an hour and a half flight so it didn’t really affect my decision.”
Although this has been a long journey for her, with many ups and downs, when asked what’d she do differently, “I wouldn’t change a thing.”
