Helping Hamilton Ministries received a $1,000 grant from Magnified Giving for the work they do to help those suffering from homelessness in the Hamilton area.
Helping Hamilton Ministries or “The Bengals Bus” is a non profit organization that drives around to the different locations in Hamilton where homeless people tend to be. Their goal is to build relationships with these people and make them feel loved while also giving them a simple meal of a sandwich and chips.
The organization Magnified Giving gave Badin $1500 to give to two agencies of our choice. Throughout the year, the students in Magnified Giving Club have been volunteering at four different nonprofits: Helping Hamilton Ministries, Hamilton Living Water Ministries, Younglives and Caring Closet.
After watching videos and hearing more about the agencies, all students voted in their religion classes for who needed the grant the most.
Helping Hamilton Ministries won the first place grant. Younglives and Hamilton Living Waters tied for second place, so both of those agencies received a $250 grant.
As this year’s Magnified Giving comes to a close, there are things to look forward to next year.
“In the past, Magnified Giving was separate groups. I liked how it was more open this year so anyone could check out all four agencies. I always like to keep things moving forward. We will work on engaging more people with the service aspect so we can serve at all of the agencies,” Service Coordinator Mrs. Halverson said.
Each group for each agency has a small team of leaders to help organize times of when students in Magnified Giving can volunteer there. For Helping Hamilton Ministries, it was Kaitlyn Robinson and Caroline Kammerer.
“Helping Hamilton is right in out backyards. With over 500 people below the poverty line in Butler County, the number of homeless people is at a steady stream, particularly on Route 4,” Robinson said. “Mark and his team from Helping Hamilton will be able to provide more food, shirts, and possibly money for housing and health needs. Though we may see this money as a small amount, it is seen as a great help through others’ eyes.”
