The end of the year is coming up, and along with it, things the end of every school year brings. Exams, spring sports tournament rounds and an end of an era—graduation.
Around 131 seniors will be graduating this year, surpassing the previous year’s 117 seniors who walked the long road to their diplomas. Fifteen of which have signed to play college sports of their choice. One of these student athletes had a lot to say about signing, and his anticipation for what is yet to come.
“I’m going to be playing baseball at the University of Findlay and I’m very excited. I feel kinda honored in a way, it makes me feel special to be one of only a few to be playing sports in college from our class,” senior Chase Hopewell said. “I’ve known I’ve wanted play baseball in college since I started playing the game, when I was six or seven, and it’s been a dream ever since. I really can’t wait.”
Not only does graduation have everyone holding their breath, but exams do as well. Exams are a huge part of everyone’s end-of-year habits and studying for them can be a huge pain. You can be exempt from them, given that you have a 93 percent average in the class year-round, but if you’re one of the unlucky ones to have a lower average, then you had better get studying.
Many can’t wait for the senior perk of having a lower yearly average rule for exemptions, which lets seniors off the hook for the terrible terrors that exam week brings around.
“Not having to take exams is a blessing,” senior Allie kopeck said. “Although taking all the AP exams were kinda like taking finals anyways, which kinda sucked.”
What everyone can agree upon, is that they can’t wait for summer, and hope for it to come sooner, rather than later. But we all have to get through the fun of the last few weeks, first.
