Traditions are everywhere. In the family, in the community, and everywhere in the world.
They’re especially important in life at Badin, for without them, Badin would not have the adhesive community it has now. A few of those long standing traditions are the attention-snatching dances, such as The BTSD (back to school dance), Homecoming, and Prom.
But one dance is particularly prominent in the history of the school—the infamous Sadie Hawkins dance.
Sadie Hawkins, also known as Sadie’s, is the only known dance that demands to trash the old-fashioned, guys-ask-girls custom, and require the contrary. This reversion adds an extra excitement factor to the very prospect for having another dance during the school year.
“Sadie’s helps liven up the middle of the school year,” says Mr. Sid Imhoff, the coordinator of this event. “It’s supposed to give people something out of school to look forward to.”
As for long standing traditions, Imhoff himself had gone to Sadie’s, as it was around in his high school days as well. He claimed to have loved it then, and hopes we enjoy it just as much as he had.
Unfortunately for the tradition, the dance had been discontinued for a few years for unknown reasons, but since the startup again of the dance last year, the dance’s popularity and interest has only seemed to increase. Especially for the freshman, since it is the first semi formal dance they are allowed to attend.
“[The dance last year] went really, really well. We got lots of positive feedback from the students who attended, and a lot of people are buzzing about it this year. And for the freshman, it was the first real dance that they could go to besides the back to school dance, so they were really excited.”
There’s high hopes going into this year, and all the students are sure that they won’t be disappointed.
