Badin students volunteered to spend a day with the Boys and Girls Club at Badin on Feb. 3, 2019 to give the kids a fun experience at the school.
For this Badin Action Day, the Boys and Girls Club came to Badin with the nonprofit Experience.
“There was face painting with Mrs. Daniels in the art room, cookie decorating in the cafeteria, and reflection in the chapel. We also had pizza and did games like relay races,” says service coordinator Megan Halverson.
Badin Action Day is a great opportunity for students to get involved in service because there are a lot of other students there and it’s a fun day.
“The idea of Badin Action Day is to get a lot of Badin students to work together and meet a specific need for a local agency. With the Experience agency, they work to provide life experiences for the Boys and Girls Club,” says Halverson.
This day was meant to be for the students and the Boys and Girls Club. However, there have been Badin Action Days in the past where parents and faculty can come serve as well.
“At our previous Badin Action Day with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, students, parents, and faculty were invited to come. For this one, just students were invited to give the kids from Boys and Girls Club a day at Badin to build relationships with the students,” says Halverson.
Badin Action Days are a fun way to get involved in Badin’s service program, even if you have never done service for Badin before.
“Signs will be posted around the school and there will always be announcements on Innerview for upcoming Badin Action Days. We plan on having one more in spring,” says Halverson.
