French Club students are starting off the year on a busy note. The group is eager to start the new year with exciting activities all of them will enjoy, while helping the Hamilton community.
As in Badin’s motto, “Think.Serve.Lead” the French Club is setting the tone this year to help others.
With several clubs getting started and settled in, the French Club is beginning to work up some activities for the month. President Abby Mathias, explained that this year the club decided to pick an organization each month to collect things for. This month they are collecting toiletries for Serve City in Hamilton.
“Right now we are collecting toiletries for Serve City on Saturday, October 20. We are going to the French Crust Cafe, located in Cincinnati; afterwards we will be going around in the Findlay Market,” Mathias said.
Many members join the club with different reasons or interests. Every club is unique and others can see who has the same passion about a topic or activity as they do.
“I like French Club because I think that French is a beautiful language and culture. The club is also a great way to make friends. The club plays a good role in bringing people together by doing service and team building activities,” Wielgos said.
Junior Kaitlyn Wilms mentioned the club wants “to serve others and get more of a cultural experience in the language itself.”
Schedules are always busy and hard to fit in meetings but Wielgos; being a very busy person herself mentioned about the clubs schedule.
“I knew that it was a club that I would not have to be fully obligated to, and I knew that they were easy going with their schedules,” Wielgos said. “If you want to be a part of the club you are required to attend at least three meetings/activities. This includes the short 15 minute meetings that occur after school sometimes. They do things like going out to restaurants together and helping out at St. Vincent de Paul’s society.”
