Imagine your daily routine. You wake up, do your regular morning walkthrough, you go to school. You see the same people in the hallways, and go about your normal schedule, listening to the same people talk every single day. You’d think by now, after doing your routine for so long that you’d know everyone, everything by heart. But while you’re sitting in that classroom, looking up at the teacher you think you know, you have to wonder, how well do you really know the person standing in front of you? What kind of person are they when they’re not set on that regular task? What really makes them a person, and not a robot going through this monotonous daily routine? Only a monthly teacher feature can tell.
On this month, Becky Long and Paul Zimmerman.
Question #1 - What sort of things do you do in your free time?
Mrs long: Free time? What is that?! Haha. My "free time" is all about family these days. I am the Queen Chauffeur to 4 soccer players and 3 basketball players - the fun never ends. But watching my kids play sports, encouraging them when they win or lose, watching them grow as athletes and teammates is very fulfilling. As for me, when I get a moment, I love to read, listen to all kinds of music (Zac Brown Band and Panic at the Disco are two of my faves right now.), and garden! I love to be outside, creating and digging in the dirt.
Mr. Z: I like to read books in my free time
Question #2 - What are your favorite sports to watch?
Mrs. Long: Favorite sports - I LOVE watching professional football. I love March Madness and I tolerate the NBA playoffs because my boys are huge fans. I really like watching any sports my kids are playing, and any sports my other kids - my students - are playing. When David Schweinefuss got that fumble recovery - I felt so proud! (as if I had ANYTHING to do with it! lol - I just really love celebrating my students' successes)
Mr. Z: I like to watch football with my family.
Question #3 - Did you play any sports in Highschool?
Mrs. Long: My favorite sport to PLAY is volleyball. I played at Greenon High School AND at The College of Mt. St. Joseph. In high school, I also tried softball my freshman year (TERRIBLE! I ended up volunteering to be the manager! LOL) And I won our league for high jump my senior year in track.
Mr. Z: I played football and ice hockey at Badin, though I only played club hockey while at Badin, due to their lack of a team.
