April is right around the corner and everyone knows what that means—spring is on its way.
Spring, a time of new life and fresh starts, means something different to everyone at Badin High School. For some it can have a good connotation; warm weather and pretty flowers are on their way. But for others, it might not be as pretty as it may seem.
“I think the worst things about spring are definitely the allergies.” Junior Kay Brannen said. She’s not the only one who feels this way. Allergies are a pain in everyone’s petunias. They come around every spring, causing headaches, runny noses, and sneezes alike.
Aside from the allergies, however, spring doesn’t seem so bad. The temperature gets warmer, the sun seems to shine a little more, and pretty soon, all the world seems to be alive again.
Not to mention that the spring sports season starts up again, which makes a number of Badin’s student athletes very excited. These sports include track, baseball, softball, boy’s tennis, boy’s volleyball; and of course the year round club sports like soccer, girls volleyball, and plenty more.
Spring also brings something the students look forward to every year: prom.
“I can’t wait for prom, I’m so excited to be able to dress up really nice,” Brannen explained. “It makes waiting for the next dance a lot easier, not to mention it’s always a lot of fun.”
Prom is a more formal dance than homecoming, and it happens in the spring rather than the fall. The dresses are longer, usually floor length, and there seems to be more pressure to be flashy. Either way, it’s a lot of fun, and it’s something every high schooler looks forward to.
All these spring things are looking to make for one very eventful new season, and one we can all look forward to.
