Once a month, we all feel the effects that come with block days. Kids complain about classes being too long and feeling more tired. But there are some benefits.
Science teachers have time to do labs and teachers can achieve more in class than usual.
“I don’t like block days because sitting in the same class for a long time starts to get boring. I like regular schedule because classes go by much faster and my attention doesn’t go anywhere else,” said Jenna Johnson.
Kids struggle to hold their attention span for normal classes already, so when they are almost double in length it seems impossible. Kids feel the effects of sitting at a desk for this long.
“I’m more tired after a block day because I’m sitting for much longer periods of time,” said Johnson.
Block days do help teachers achieve more and sometimes it’s good to have a switch-up of schedule to get you out of the rut of your daily routine.
“Sometimes I like block days because I get a break from some of my classes and flex bell is always fun with my homeroom,” said Riley Simmons.
Whether you like block days or not, they are part of our schedule and only once a month at that.
“I think block days would be better once a quarter, rather than once a month,” said Johnson.
