Homecoming preparation can be stressful for faculty and students because of everything that needs to be organized.
From the parade to the dance itself, a lot more goes into having the perfect Homecoming weekend than people think.
“I hosted the float meeting for the sophomores at my house. We used my trailer and my truck too. We had to make signs and ‘pomp’ another big sign in the back,” said sophomore Tatum Oliver.
Time consuming projects like this can be stressful for a student who is already busy with other schoolwork.
“It was all insane and stressful. It took up a huge amount of time, about 3-4 official meetings, and then a few smaller groups getting together to help finish ‘pomping’. It took a total of sixteen hours. I was so relieved when it was finished,” said Oliver.
Other aspects of Homecoming can also be stressful— such as the dance itself.
“I was nervous about pictures before homecoming because I wanted everything to turn out correctly. After that I wasn’t as nervous,” said sophomore Kaitlyn Covey.
Some girls tend to get nervous about going on a date but this is not the case for Covey.
“I went with my boyfriend and I wasn’t really nervous about going with him because I’ve known him for a while,” said Covey.
On the other hand, some boys do not seem to be concerned at all.
"I had very little stress going into the dance, I didn’t really care much about it and I know some of my friends didn’t either,” said sophomore Ryan Kirkendall.
