Christmas is a time for family friends and getting close to the ones around you. And what’s a better way to do so, but with the December Edition of the Teacher Feature? This month’s subjects: Mrs. Katie Maciulewicz and Mr. Joshua Mears.
What high school did you go to?
Mrs. Maciulewicz: Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet High School in Nashville, Tennessee - It's consistently the #1 ranked public high school in the state and where the video for Taylor Swift's "Teardrops on My Guitar" was filmed.
Mr. Mears: I graduated from Alter High School.
What hobbies (sports, activities, etc) did you have in high school?
Mrs. Maciulewicz: I've always been an avid reader, so I read a lot in high school. I was also involved in multiple choirs and musicals at my high school.
Mr. Mears: I ran cross country and track at Alter.
What are your favorite sports to watch?
Mrs. Maciulewicz: hockey - Go Preds!
Mr. Mears: I like to watch most sports. I especially like when I am at the sporting event and can watch in person AND I know some of the people who are competing. Also, I really like to watch the Olympics. It's a fun chance to watch sports that I don't see on TV very often.
What do you do in your free time?
Mrs. Maciulewicz: I read a lot and watch a lot of Netflix. During the warm months, my husband and I are involved in car racing, mostly a style of racing called Autocross through the Sports Car Club of America, where you can race basically any car you have. I most recently raced a Ford Fiesta. (Anyone who's interested in racing, come see me!)
Mr. Mears: In my free time, I enjoy keeping up with the news. I also enjoy exercising.
What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
Mrs. Maciulewicz: I just like being able to spend time with family. We don't really have any specific traditions.
Mr. Mears: One favorite Christmas tradition is going to see the lights at the Cincinnati Zoo.
