Due to Covid-19 plans are constantly changing. Contact your campus office if you have additional questions.
The purpose of this document is to outline Axtell ISD's reopening of campuses after the COVID-19 pandemic and school guidelines throughout the year. These guidelines are aligned with the CDC and have been carefully considered to address and promote the safety, health, and welfare of our community.
While apart, we have been planning to ensure that when we come together again, you will know how we will protect the safety of our students and staff. Our buildings are sanitized daily and all who enter the doors of our buildings will wear a mask and be screened for COVID-19 symptoms. Students or staff complaining of symptoms will be assessed by a school nurse. If needed, those students are isolated from other students. If you receive a call from the school nurse, please come and pick up your child immediately. In the event that someone in the building has tested positive Axtell ISD will consult with the McLennan County Health District to proceed with CDC protocols. Our commitment to you is to be diligent in maintaining the safety of all. Thank you for your support.
Everyone will be screened anytime they enter a building by the school nurse, principal or designee.
If a student complains of COVID-19 like symptoms, the student will be seen by the nurse or designee.
Nurses will be mobile, dispensing meds by class.
Nurses will have communication device at all times in the event of an emergency call needs to be made or received.
Protocols for Campus Cleaning and Disinfecting
Each classroom and restroom will be disinfected throughout the school day.
All high-touch areas will be disinfected throughout the school day.
The cafeteria will be disinfected between lunch periods.
Student work stations will be disinfected at the end of each class period.
Staff will limit the use of shared supplies.
Protocols for Disinfecting and Hand Sanitizing
Regular hand washing/hand sanitizer use by all students and staff will be required.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer will be available throughout the campus.
Hand sanitizer will be provided upon entry to the classroom in addition to periodic
teacher reminders during the instructional day.
There may be times when specific campuses need to be closed to allow for sanitizing. When 2% of the campus population becomes infected, the campus may close down for a time to be determined by the district administration. The campus is currently making efforts to sanitize the entire campus at the end of each day in order to minimize the number of disruptions of in person instruction.
If the sanitizing process is necessary it should not take longer than 72 hours.
Campus closures will be determined by the individual campus needs and not the entire district.
Campus closures will be treated like bad weather days. The 2020-21 school calendar has been developed with 15 extra days built in for possible school closures.
