This year began with Online learning, and that included Art. Projects were recorded so that students could do them at their leisure between assignments. They are still available on the Art Google Classroom so that students can still go in and learn how to draw or paint. All of these online assignments were created using simple art supplies, like crayons and watercolors that most students would have available at home. When students were finally back in the classroom, I tried to have them do lots of painting, which they all love.
Watercolor-Crayon Resist was used to create Fall Leaves. Tempera paint was used to make Painted Paper.
Here are some of the many art projects available to do in the Art Google Classroom:
Folk Art Fox
Junk Mail Bird House
Colorful Chameleon
Matryoshka Dolls
A new way to encourage students to continue to create Art at home was to introduce the idea of Artist Trading Cards. One can create Art on an index card with their name & grade on the back, then put their card on the board in the hallway, and choose someone's else Art they like. This way, they can create a collection of Art by their peers, and trade as many as they like. The kids loved this! Here is Sophia, trading her first card.
The Culminating Activity was learning about Color Mixing and the Color Wheel.
