The 2020 - 2021 school year has been one for the record books! We have learned so much as we navigated school in the middle of a pandemic. COVID 19 forced us to start the year in our virtual classrooms. Teachers and students had to navigate Google Classroom and Google Meets while trying to learn new grade level standards. AVMS was able to rise to the challenge and find ways to meet the needs of our students. On October 19th, we were able to come back to a hybrid model, of remote and in person learning, for families that were ready to send their students to campus. Finally, on March 26th we moved to five day a week instruction for both in person and remote learning. Our teachers and students have been working hard to reach mastery and demonstrate understanding of the state standards. One way we were able to demonstrate this was with our ‘Culminating Projects’. Teachers created projects that allowed students to show what they had learned by a hands on project! Students were engaged and encouraged by the process. As you look through the middle school pages you will see the projects and hear from students regarding their success. We hope you enjoy seeing what we have been up to at AVMS during the 2020 - 20221 school year.
