Task 4: ALL ABOUT GERMS!

This is a whole course of lessons and information which will teach you about germs, viruses and especially Covid-19.

When you click on the link, you will have to create an account before you can see the activities. It will ask for your name, your email account and a password. (Make sure you can remember it!). Just use your school account and an easy-to-remember password.

Have fun! Matt, who designed this, is a friend of mine, and super clever!! He is DP at Thorndon Primary School in Wellington.

Task 3: Bubbles in your Bubble

Make your own bubble mixture

Gently mix together

  • 1.5 cups of water

  • 1/2 cup dishwashing liquid

  • 2 tsp sugar

You're now good to go! However, the bubble solution tends to work best if you leave it for a couple of hours or overnight if you can. Try using different sized wands - make bigger ones out of wire or plastic strips taped together. For big ones, put the mixture into a plate or a rubbish bin lid so you can get the mixture right over the wand. Have fun!

Task 2: Hand Santiser

The best way to wash your hands is with soap and water, but hand sanitiser is good too. Have a look at this clip about hand santiser. This explains why. If anybody asks you about this, you will be able to tell them! PS You don’t need to worry about voting for the next question at the end of the video!

Task 1: Bubbling Water

What happens when you boil a pot of water?

The BUBBLES in the water are filled with WATER VAPOUR, water which is a GAS. Before the water boils, the bubbles you see are filled with air, which is already dissolved in the water. Check out this video, then have a go yourself at home. Make sure you have an adult with you in the kitchen!
