Kia ora AIS! Here are a few literacy activities for you to do. Don't forget if you have been writing a dairy or a journal to keep that going and to write a reflection of your week every Friday. Feel free to be creative and enjoy!

Reading & Writing Task 12: Is It Cyberbullying?

Let's face it: Some online spaces can be full of negative, rude, or downright mean behaviour. But what counts as cyberbullying? Learn what is -- and what isn't -- cyberbullying, and gain the tools you’ll need to combat the problem.

Literacy Task 9: Touch Typing

Being able to touch type will help you to be more confident when you are writing online - you will be amazed at how much easier it is to write when you don't need to look at the keys! It can really help your spelling too.

Aim to practise this by using Dance Mat Typing 3 times each week.

Writing Task 6: Game Cover

Make a cover for a game you play online with friends.

Your cover must include;

  • A video game title in big letters

  • An image of the main character

  • On the back of your cover or on a separate sheet, the rules you would make to keep social interactions positive and fun.

Reading Task 5: Digital Trail

The information we put online leaves a digital footprint or “trail.” This trail can be big or small, helpful or hurtful, depending on how we manage it.

Reading Task 1: Flanders Field

Anzac Day is observed on 25 April. It commemorates New Zealanders killed in war and honours returned and serving servicemen and women. This poem was written by John McCrae, April 1915 during WW1 while in the trenches near Ypres, Belgium in an area known as Flanders.
