A Partnership with Excelencia in Education and the Center for Broadening Participation in STEM at Arizona State University
The STEM-ESS institute offers a transformative set of activities to develop a compelling case for change. Institutional teams complete a comprehensive self-assessment of their institution’s current status in STEM, especially the extent to which it is evidence-based and student serving (STEM-ESS). Excelencia and the Center for Broadening Participation in STEM at Arizona State University facilitate discussions of the assessment and the development of a prioritized STEM action plan.
At the end of the two-day institute, teams will have:
• Improved self-awareness of their institution’s STEM-ESS capability,
• A framework to continue forward momentum, and,
• A strategic case for change, supported by evidence, to engage leadership and implement actions that will build capacity for Latino student success in STEM.
Check-in meetings occur at three and six months after the institute to discuss progress and provide additional assistance.
