Transportation

The ASU Parking and Transit website contains a lot of useful information beyond permits and passes. Please take a moment to see the services they offer. The links below are to specific pages on their website.

Biking on Campus

Biking at ASU and in the Phoenix area is very popular. The university has this bike page (with multiple tabs of info) that has resources, including:

ASU Bike Co-op

During the academic year, the Bike Co-Op on the Downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic and Tempe campuses provides students with the tools and instruction they need to keep their bikes running smoothly and efficiently. They sell routine maintenance items and have many used spare parts that are available for those who need them. They can also order virtually any part you need for your bike, from good-quality economical parts to high-end, high-performance equipment, at prices lower than you can find at most other bike shops. They will show you how to perform repairs and upgrades on your bike for free, and use of any of the tools is also free. This is a free service.

On-Campus Parking Permits

Tempe has various parking lots and structures to choose from when selecting a parking permit. The permit you buy is valid only in the lot or structure you choose. Please view a parking map for more details.

New academic permits go on sale in late summer. Please check the ASU Parking and Transit website for complete details.

Campus Busses and Shuttles (free)

ASU intercampus shuttles transport students, faculty and staff between the Downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic, Tempe and West campuses. Shuttles do not operate on university-observed holidays.

Also there are Valley Metro Flash lines. The Flash Forward and Flash Back travel the same route but in opposite directions (clockwise vs. counterclockwise). The Flash McAllister is an offshoot of the other route, covering McAllister Ave. on campus.

There are three lines:

Orbit

Tempe has a free bus system called Orbit that circulates throughout north Tempe (north and south of the Rio Salado) and south to Guadalupe Rd. Time schedules and maps of the system can be found on the City of Tempe website.

Other Public Transportation

The Phoenix metro area has several public transportation options, including:

ASU provides a brief guide to these services. Students are eligible for discounts on permits and passes by purchasing a U-Pass.
