Activity Summary
Within this step the faculty member will learn how to flawlessly export and upload their video to YouTube. This will be done by making sure you are signed into the correct account, and exporting the video correctly out of DaVinci Resolve system before uploading it to YouTube. This step will be crucial to embedding the video into Canvas, make sure to follow these steps closely.
The learner will be able to select the most optimal method for exporting and uploading their edited videos to their university YouTube account directly from DaVinci Resolve 18.
After the faculty members are finished editing their videos, they can move onto the final step of exporting their content to YouTube. The steps outlined in this process are rather simple and straightforward.
First, make sure you are signed out of all Google accounts. We don't want this video to be posted to someone else's YouTube channel!
Go to google.com in your default browser. In the top-right, you may see a "Sign In" button, in which case you are already signed out. You may also see a circular icon with a letter or a photo. If so, click on that icon and a menu will pop up on the right side of the page. Scroll to the bottom of that pop-up menu and click "Sign out" or "Sign out of all accounts".
We also need to make sure that DaVinci Resolve hasn't remembered someone else's YouTube account information, since it is possible that it has been used before on your university-appointed laptop.
In DaVinci Resolve, click on "DaVinci Resolve" in the top-left corner of the window, and select "Preferences..." from the drop-down menu.
The prefences window will appear. There are two tabs at the top, "System" and "User". With "System" selected, you will see a list of options on the left side of the preferences window. Click on "Internet Accounts" and look for YouTube.
If under YouTube it says "Sign In to publish directly to YouTube", then there is no one signed in and you can close the preferences window by clicking the "Cancel" button at the bottom-right of the window.
If under YouTube it says "Signed In as" followed by an email address, click the "Sign Out" button, then click the "Save" button at the bottom-right.
You will need to sign out if another account is already signed in to YouTube.
Now we are ready to begin the export process. Click on the ‘file’ tab in the top-left hand corner of the window and click on ‘quick export’. After clicking ‘quick export’ the user will be presented with a variety of video export options.
Click on the ‘YouTube’ option from the list and you will subsequently be redirected to a sign-in prompt for your YouTube account in a browser window.
Complete the sign-in using your University of Skaro’s Google account.
Once signed-in, the user must return to DaVinci Resolve, select the “Upload directly” checkbox, and complete the video upload process by entering a video title and under Privacy select “Unlisted”. Then click the “Export” button at the bottom right to upload. This will take a few minutes.
Once the video has been uploaded, it is ready to be shared with the University of Skaro community. Congratulations!
