It is important to officially adopt the required textbooks for your course so students can access textbook information through MyASU. To adopt your textbooks:
Select the + textbook icon next to your class in MyASU as highlighted in the image on the left.
You will be taken to Follet's centralized online system for textbook adoption. You can access Help at the bottom of the Follet page for a brief tutorial on adopting texts.
Once your adoption has been approved, your textbook icon will change to blue as shown in the image on the left and students will be able to access the information.
Please email students at least two weeks prior to the course notifying them of their required texts so they can obtain them before classes start.
Note: students are not added to your Canvas course until three days prior to the term start date. Before that, you can email them through your class roster located in MyASU.
Access your Class Roster via your Class Tools in MyASU.
Select all students and scroll to the bottom of your roster to "Emails Selected Students".
If you are unsure about what textbooks might be required in your course, or need additional information about ordering books, please reach out to the Director of Online Programs, Kathleen.Hicks@asu.edu,
Some courses require students to access other materials, such as films, throughout the semester. If you are aware your course includes such materials, such as film rentals or purchases, please make sure you are posting your syllabus in MyASU as directed at least two weeks prior to the start of classes so students can be prepared to obtain those course materials.
Desk copies for many of our courses can be accessed directly through the various publisher's websites and Vital Source. The Department of English can also assist you in requesting desk copies of the textbooks within your courses. Please reach out to the Department of English's Program Manager, Kimberly Fullerton, at kim.fullerton@asu.edu, if you require assistance requesting desk copies.
