Abstract
According to the AAFA, there are currently 6.2 million children under the age of 18 that have asthma in the United States only. When children or adults neglect to use an inhaler spacer, 70-80% of the medication will end up in their mouth rather than the lungs, decreasing the efficiency of drugs released during times of asthma attacks. Our company, ARCK Medical, aims to assist in the fight against asthma and other respiratory infections to ensure the health of all individuals with our proposed medical device. Our product is the Collapsible Inhaler Spacer and it helps deliver medication to the lungs with a spacer that extends to the length of the traditional inhaler spacer but can collapse to fit into a child’s pocket. Our team strives to present the patients, the best medical equipment to meet their needs of portability, efficiency and ease of use. The set specifications have allowed our team to select the most promising project concepts and find the most efficient testing protocols for our designs. We are currently working on finalizing our prototyping and progressing forward with quality testing of our device.
