Ms. Ordell

Hi Everyone,

I am Ms. Ordell and super excited to be the 3rd & 4th Grade ELA and Social Studies teacher for the ASU Prep South Phoenix location. Previously, I've taught fifth grade; however, I wanted to invest in a crucial year of reading with younger students.

My family is my joy, and we are affectionately known as #teamordell. We are delighted to be entering our second year living in Phoenix, Arizona. My husband also works as a teacher, my daughter is in the 4th Grade, and our Australian Shepherd is named Jake. We are from Los Angeles, California and have also lived in other cities.

This school year I am excited to use Growth Mindset principles to encourage my students to invest in their education by not being afraid of mistakes and expanding their learning potential. I love mentoring my students and building relationship beyond the classroom! This is also an exciting year, because August marks the beginning of my doctoral studies in education. I want my students to understand that life is a learning journey, and I am excited to be in school too.

I believe all children should receive instruction in the least restrictive environment. Although born with congenital disabilities, it has never stopped my learning. My disadvantages became my advantages to a wonderful life of purpose. My students may need to get used to my three fingers, but I am hoping they will learn that I am an over-comer!
