Support Services in middle school provides educational support in English language subjects (reading, writing and math) for students with documented needs. Support Service teachers generally work with students in their regular classrooms providing them with extra assistance. Students receiving support service are monitored by the support service teachers in close consultation with the homeroom teachers and the middle school academic advisor. In addition, parental communication is sustained via conference meetings, e-mails and simple check-in conversations. Documentation which consists of meeting minutes, student success plans and confidential files for students with diagnosed conditions, is housed and kept up to date by the middle school academic advisor. It is Support Service’s aim to provide the necessary level of academic assistance to any ’at risk’ learners in the most timely and effective manner possible.
