Staff Review
Board staff will review all documents for compliance with Arizona Statute, Rule, policy, and the Charter Holder's contract. The compliance review will include the submitted documentation, as well as publicly available documentation and information found on the Charter Holder's website. Academic Systems Documentation is reviewed by Board staff against the published criteria found in the Board's Academic Framework.
Follow-Up Meeting
Following the Board staff review of documentation, a virtual meeting will be held with representatives of the charter holder/charter school. This meeting should include any personnel who can speak to the academic systems of the school and compliance related areas.
During this meeting:
Representatives of the charter will be asked questions about the operations and academic systems of the school. Board staff will discuss the submitted academic documentation.
Board staff will ask questions to further understand the submitted compliance documentation and discuss areas of non-compliance.
Board staff will inform the Charter Representative if additional documents are needed for the compliance or academic components after Board staff has had the opportunity to discuss findings with charter personnel. The charter holder will have 48 hours from the time of the follow-up email to submit any additional documents to demonstrate compliance or implementation of the school's academic systems. Charter and school personnel should treat this scheduled date as if Board staff is on site for a visit and be prepared to gather additional documentation at the conclusion of the call.
