OVS-exam requirements
During the exam, the instructor will assess whether they consider it safe for you to climb single-pitch outdoors independently. Below is the chart your instructor will use to make this assessment.
Skills to demonstrate: setting up a toprope, cleaning the route, cleaning with little room in the bolts, cleaning on a single bolt / retreating, abseiling and lead climbing in real rock.
The instructor will also weigh in your knowledge and practice of: the partner check, knots, clipping in quickdraws, belaying skills, rope management, foot faults, risk assessment, insight, ethics.
