Welcome to the course Outdoor Lead Climbing (Voorklimmen) Multipitch (OVM) offered by the ASAC. During this course, you'll learn about the technical and safety aspects of outdoor lead climbing multiple pitches in bolted areas.
This course is a follow-up to the OVS course, and all information in the OVS syllabus is assumed to be known. Before you begin, go through the OVS syllabus once more. It is referred to regularly throughout this course.

Learning objectives
Learning objectives
Master the OVS learning objectives with a greater degree of insight, self-awareness, and restraint.
Be able to safely climb and belay multiple pitches in well-bolted areas.
Use of rope commands.
Recognize and prevent potentially dangerous situations.
Know how to prepare properly before heading out.
Master several techniques, including:
setting up anchors/belay stations
belaying the follower and the lead climber from a belay station
working with double ropes
other rope and rescue techniques
Required gear
Required gear
You'll need this before the start of the course:
Climbing harness and climbing shoes.
Belay device with room for two strands of rope, with extra eyes (one large, one small) for belaying in guide mode (such as a Black Diamond ATC Guide or Petzl Reverso).
5 locking carabiners, of which 1 HMS carabiner and 3 slightly smaller carabiners. This includes the carabiner for your personal anchor system.
3 prusik cords, 5 mm thick, one 1-meter length and two 5-meter lengths.
2 (dyneema) slings, 120 cm length.
Lifeline, there are many options for this.
At least 6 quickdraws (together with a climbing partner, that gives you 12 quickdraws).
You'll also need the following if you're climbing independently:
Climbing helmet (can be borrowed from the ASAC during the course).
Climbing rope (during the course you'll use ASAC ropes).
