New Teacher Induction

Welcome to our School, we are delighted to have you as PART of #teamKemnay! The purpose of this page is to provide concise and supportive guidance to get you up and running with the various systems, policies and training you will need to undertake at Kemnay PS, as well as Aberdeenshire's corporate obligations via ALDO.

The Head Teacher will provide you with Corporate login details and you should receive ALDO login details from Human Resources (HR).

Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

Upon starting with Kemnay PS we will arrange a meeting with yourself and the Headteacher, Mr David Williams and DHT, Mr Colin Hutchison.

This will include a welcoming and informal chat about life at Kemnay PS and the fun we get up to, as well as some of the less glamourous aspects of the job; admin, service structure, class routines, lesson planning resources, policies, expectations, facilities, car parking and general house-keeping. We fully understand how overwhelming it can be joining a school so please, ask as many questions that you need to and don't stress! You will get there.

The SLT/Admin team will issue you with the following:

Teacher Laptop
Corporate Login
Tour of School
- - with identification of fire exits, drill and assembly points.
  - Security alarms.
  - First Aid representatives and equipment

Door Entry Card
Seemis Login (+ signed user agreement)

Medical Information re: Pupils

ALDO

Aberdeenshire Council has an on-line learning portal called ALDO. This allows you to access a range of learning materials from full courses to short modules, supporting documentation as well as booking a place on face-to-face courses. ALDO can be accessed from any PC with an Internet connection.

As part of your Induction you are expected to engage with and complete Corporate Induction Training as well as a number of Mandatory Training courses.

To make your experience of using ALDO for the first time more effective, please watch this quick tour for a few hints and tips to help you.

ALDO

You should receive your ALDO login directly from HR. The login is your payroll number.

Once you have logged into ALDO for the first time, the system automatically asks you to change your password. If in the future, you wish to change it to something else, here is how to do it.

Firstly, click on your headshot at the top right of the page. Then click on the Preferences link where you will find a link to change your password.

You can check that your work location, email address etc are up to date within your profile.

Simply click on your headshot at the top right of the page then choose Profile, followed by Edit Profile. If there is anything in there that needs updated and you cannot do it yourself, email ALDOSupport@aberdeenshire.gov.uk with the details and they will do it for you. Please check your profile at least once every 6 months to ensure it is up to date.

There are mandatory courses that all Aberdeenshire Council Employees should undertake within the first few months after joining the organisation. These are listed below.

MANDATORY TRAINING ON ALDO

coRPORATE iNDUCTION

This short induction to Aberdeenshire Council is designed to welcome you to the organisation and to give you some key messages about who we are and what we, as an organisation, stand for.

GDPR

Providing an understanding of the key obligations and requirements of UK Data Protection law and an overview of Freedom of Information requirements. This is mandatory for all staff who process personal data within Aberdeenshire Council.

Equalities

This course provides an introduction to the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). It includes information on the role that all employees have in ensuring that the Council acts in accordance with the PSED.

Diversity

We all have a duty to promote positive attitudes, equality and diversity. This course aims to help reflect on attitudes towards others, give an increased understanding of challenges facing people from different groups and how we might respond.

Prevent

This e-learning module will help you to identify when vulnerable people may be radicalised and potentially encouraged to participate in criminal activities. Once you have completed this module you will know what to do when you have concerns.
