Make sure you are safe and secure with your illness/condition.
Employees MUST notify the Headteacher as soon as possible. Contact by text message or email is not considered to be an appropriate method of contact and should only be used if the employee has been unable to talk to the Headteacher.
Provide an estimated date of return to work and maintain regular contact to update accordingly.
If confirmation of the absence is not confirmed by headteacher employees must notify the Deputy Headteacher.

The Headteacher is responsible for recording sickness related absences online through the ask HR portal. If your Headteacher is absent, please advise Support Services of the sickness through the BS Task Allocation App and the Central team can arrange for this to be recorded on the Line Managers behalf.
On return to work the you, the employee should closes their sickness absence through Employee Self Service (ESS).
Support Services will receive an email when an absence has been ended through Employee Self Service (ESS). Please note that the notification email is run as a batch overnight so notification of absences ended will be received the morning after the employee returns themselves in ESS. Bodet will then be updated accordingly.
The Special Leave Policy can be found here.
Employees should request paid special leave by submitting an online request through ESS themselves. The request will then be automatically sent to their Line Manager for authorisation. Once authorised the Line Manager forwards the confirmation of authorisation email to the Bodet (time-management software) administrators who will then update Bodet accordingly. Please note for part days this will not be done until the special leave has been taken so that Bodet can accurately reflect the time taken.
If Bodet hasn't been updated after a few days please contact your Line Manager to check that the email confirming authorisation of 'Paid Special Leave' has been forwarded to Bus Support Admin for actioning.
Unpaid Special Leave is requested by completing a form which can be found here.
Once approved by the Line Manager the unpaid special leave form should be attached to a ticket using the BS Task Allocation App to ensure Bodet is updated, before the form is forwarded on to Payroll.
The Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) Policy can be found here.
All TOIL requests must be agreed by Line Manager in advance.
The TOIL (Time Off in Lieu Request Form) can be accessed here .
Complete the above form with additional hours worked that are to be taken as TOIL & to request the TOIL accrued. Once completed please forward to your Line Manager who will then log a ticket in the BS Task Allocation App for Bodet to be updated.
After a certain number of absences the SLT are duty bound to work through the Attendance Management Policy.
