Term 3 Reading

YOU must state the name of the book and the author’s name clearly. Then tell Ms.Packer how many pages are in the book. Then you must tell Ms.Packer what the genre of the book is, either Science Fiction or Fantasy.

1. Who is your main character and tell me what kind of being they are? (shy, brave, etc.)

Wrong, save other beings, or win over an oppressor. Tell me what the main character has to achieve?

2.What problems (conflict) do they face in the book?

What obstacles do they have to overcome? Tell one or two of their adventures.

**In these genres, there is almost always a mentor. An older being who guides your main character. This being always has

“words of wisdom” to pass onto the main character. Think Gandalf, Dumbledore, or Glinda (the good witch of the North.

3. Who is the mentor and what are those guiding phrases.

4. Who are the “sidekicks” who help the main character? and How do they help? Think Ron, Hermione, Samwise, or

Scarecrow.

5. There is always a villain or evil entity who tries to stop your main character from achieving the goal. Who is this? Why do they want the main character to fail? How do they try to stop the characters?Think Voldemort, Sauron, or the Wicked Witch of the West.

6. How does your book end?

Are you satisfied with the ending? Why or why not?

How would you change it?

7. Did you like the book? Why or Why not?

You will be using a NOTE and NOTICE Bookmark with questions and information that must be put on your Post-it-Notes. Ms.Packer will have copies in her room all term long.
