Term 2 Reading

During term two, the students must read at least TWO BOOKS: one mystery book and one historical fiction book. The historical fiction book(the story) must take place between prehistoric times up to the year 1930. No books where the story takes place after the year 1930 can be read. All Holocaust, Japanese Internment, and Armenian Genocide books will be read at the High School, which is why they are not allowed for term two reading. The students must read the two  genres before any other book may be read. I will tell the students what they can read as the third book if they need one. No books that are movies or TV shows may be read. If students are unsure of the book, they should ask me. They must read 650 pages for term two. Last Day for reports is January

Parents/Guardians: The Mid-term Book Report Grade is a

"Work-in-Progress" grade. Students have ten weeks to read

their total amount of pages. This grade is NOT how well they did giving their report; it reflects the number of pages

completed at Mid-term, divided by the total they they owe for the term.

At Mid-term they need to know

what progress they have made and what they need to finish.

If they read and give their reports, this grade will only go up as the term ends. The students know this information.

ALL Students must Post-It-Note every Chapter in each book they are going to give as an oral report. The Post-It must be a 3x3 square. It must include a sentence that tells the major plot development in that chapter. It should also include a list of new vocabulary.
