Catch up on all that's been happening in Year 12 VCE-VM
URBNSURF was a real highight of term 1 for many students. We had the chance to learn a new skill in a controlled environment and students had a lot of fun riding the waves with the crew at Urbnsurf.
Many students once again stepped beyond their comfort zones and were rewarded with some great waves and good times.
Lucy is an ultra marathon runner who shared her stories with our year 11 VM crew as they relate to their current PDS unit on Health, nutrition and fitness. Lucy spoke about the mental strength required in her events and the training methods she uses to get herself ready. Lucy is a big advocate for carving out your own niche in life and creating a career from your paassion area.

Our senior VM students have spent the early parts of term 1, preparing and planning for the VM camp down to Wilsons Prom. We were blessed with some clear weather and students revelled in the challenge of planning their own itinerary, menu, shopping, equipment and activities. Meal time was a highlight, as our budding masterchefs worked together to fuel themselves up for some challenging hikes around the Prom. Spare time was spent exploring the beaches and river, with some students taking the opportunity to sneak in a spot of fishing at Tidal River. The students were very impressive in their behaviour and attitude throughout the camp.
Students are well into preparations for our upcoming Wilsons Prom camp. In Numeracy classes we have been looking at map reading, contour lines, hiking routes and using spreadsheets to help us organise and plan. In PDS students have been developing their camp groups, working out their equipment needs and planning the logistics and schedule of the camp. On Monday we had a practice run of pitching our tents and cooking on the camp stoves before heading out to the Dandenong Ranges National Park and having a practice hike at the 1000 steps walk. Students were able to review their fitness and equipment needs in preparation for the camp.
