An OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal recognizes graduating seniors who can demonstrate that they have personal strengths, strong work ethic, and professional experience that business and post-secondary institutions need.
A school or district gives this award by following state-established guidelines. Watch the video on the right for additional information.
📜 A form is needed to document this work. Students should consult closely with their academy teachers and school counselor to ensure all parts are being met and turn the form into the appropriate staff when complete. APS expects each graduate to earn this seal.
Thousands of employers worked to identify a list of skills that align with the types of employees needed to join the workforce in Ohio.
Students must work with at least three experienced and trusted mentors anytime throughout high school that will validate the demonstration of professional skills in the school, work, or the community to earn this seal.
This seal can be earned by demonstrating proficiency in each of the following 15 professional skills verified by 3 different mentors:
Drug Free commits to drug free
Reliability displays integrity and responsibility
Work Ethic personal accountability to succeed
Punctuality arrives on time and ready to contribute
Discipline demonstrates self-control
Teamwork & Collaboration builds relationships with others to work as a team
Professionalism demonstrates honesty, dresses appropriately, and behaves responsibly
Learning Agility desire to learn new information
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving strong decision-making skills; creatively overcomes problems
Leadership shows ability to coach and motivate peers
Creativity & Innovation displays original and inventive solutions
Oral & Written Communication articulates well in written and oral forms
Digital Technologies leverages existing and emerging technology to solve problems
Global & Intercultural Fluency values and respects diversity
Career Management able to articulate personal strengths
Mentorship and demonstration of skills must be documented in one of three possible environments:
School (mentors may include teachers, administrators, advisors, coaches, etc.)
Work (mentors may include supervisors, managers, experienced co-workers, etc.)
Community (mentors may include volunteer coordinators, faith-based leaders, etc.)
