Standard 13

Standard 13 - Students demonstrate STEAM content knowledge representative of STEAM literacy outcomes that prepare them for the next level of learning and work.

Students demonstrate their STEAM content knowledge in a variety of ways. Within the inquiry journals and IB portfolios, students capture their learning process and reflect upon their achievements. During the learning process, students use the Engineering Design Process, hands on investigations, and group activities to guide their collaborative and problem-solving thinking. Students' final products and creations demonstrate their STEAM content knowledge as each is unique, student-led and developed by that particular student or collaborative group of students. Teachers also practice these skills through their own planning and facilitation of the learning. Leaders are able to analyze student comprehension and knowledge through our STAR Assessment (Math & ELA) and Georgia Milestones (Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies).

To celebrate their IB-PYP and STEAM inquiry, our 5th grade students participate in a collaborative inquiry process based upon the United Nations’ Global Goals. Students work collaboratively in groups of 3-5 students to ask questions, research, imagine possible solutions or actions to increase awareness or improve their global, plan and create their action into reality, and share their learning, actions, and reflections with the community (school, parents, community members). This exhibition experience provides the community the opportunity to see our students content knowledge and prepare them to truly work at the next level as global thinkers.
