WTJ students hatch from eggs and raise rainbow trout twice a year for release in the Chattahoochee River.Â
Each year the students release a couple of thousand trout to aid the local ecosystem as part of the school's Project Based Learning. The students are learning to solve real world problems.
Once a year, each grade level has a Fathers and Friends morning event in which they build a project with a family member or friend. This project varies by grade and allows the students to showcase their skills. This allows Jackson Elementary to bring the community into the learning environment.
