Unit Overview: This unit explores how the body responds to disease by investigating cells, sound waves, and the interconnectedness of body systems. Students will analyze the phenomenon of measles in New Mexico to generate investigative questions, design experiments, build models, and explore relevant careers.

PEER GRADING: We will walk around and assess each other's projects, so we can get practice understanding how to make an effective, complete, creative project. I'll use the peer grades instead of my grade if we can do this well!
STEAM EXTRAVAGANZA PREP: Today, we will make POSTERS for the STEAM Extravaganza Thursday. Each class will be responsible for ONE activity to teach visitors what we've learned and give them something FUN to make or do while they visit our tables!

STEAM EXTRAVAGANZA PREP: Today, we will make POSTERS for the STEAM Extravaganza Thursday. Each class will be responsible for ONE activity to teach visitors what we've learned and give them something FUN to make or do while they visit our tables! On Thursday, we will set up tables and make any supplies we need for the activity you choose. When you come Thursday night, you can help show and run the activities! Options include:
Sound waves + Whistles or instruments
Cast and Mold Fossils out of salt dough
Make coloring pages about anything we've learned
Your idea!

1st Period: Cast and Mold Fossils - Make Salt Dough and store in Ziplocs; Make 2? Plaster of Paris Molds and let them dry for tonight
2nd Period: Science Cookbook (Thermal Energy and States of Matter Recipe and Coloring Book) - DOWNLOAD and EMAIL a JPG (NOT A PDF, sorry!) to Ms. Ploss, so we can design and print our cookbook today, and it will be ready to hand out tonight!
