6th Grade SCIENCE:EARTH & Living SYSTEMS

Ms. Ploss

Jefferson Middle School

Class overview

Welcome! This year, we will get to know each other as we explore, investigate, and explain our world--the Earth! I'm excited to hear your questions about our Earth, and to work together to answer them in creative, collaborative ways (as scientists)!

APRIL/MAY SCHEDULE 2021

NOTE: Starting April 5th, students will have the option to learn in-person or online. We will continue to use Google Classroom and Google Meet. All students, whether at home or in person, will need to be on the computer during class, and will submit all work using Google Classroom (even if it is printed/written)! If you are coming in-person, you will need to bring your fully charged Chromebook (from APS) to school with you each day, as well as a charger.

If you have any questions or trouble, please let me know (you can email me HERE). See you soon!

inquiry

This large team of scientists are drifting across the arctic ocean, their ship frozen in sea ice!

They wonder how the arctic climate works and are gathering data to help explore their questions! What do you wonder about our climate?

connection

Hurricanes are fascinating! Have you ever wondered how hurricanes form, and how we know about them long before they threaten our coastal cities?

There are so many connections to find in this video--what connections do you notice?

change

To what extent is our world changing, and how well can we predict change? I've wondered this, too!

This Crash Course Kids made me write down a lot of questions--what changes have you observed in your world?
