Unit overview
NGSS Standards: MS-PS4-1, MS-PS4-2, MS-LS1-1, MS-LS1-2, MS-LS1-3, MS-LS1-8
Unit Overview: This unit explores how the body responds to disease by investigating cells, sound waves, and the interconnectedness of body systems. Students will analyze the phenomenon of measles in New Mexico to generate investigative questions, design experiments, build models, and explore relevant careers.
Use this CALENDAR to write in your agenda each MONDAY!!!
Please remind your families of this today.
Do Now (Science Portfolio - Independent Project): OPEN your Independent Project page on your website, and find the Ear Attack section. We will do a GALLERY WALK each day to get ideas and see what others are doing!
April 1 - April Fool's Day Word Search Challenge (winners get BROWNIES TOMORROW!!!)
Activities for the days
RESEARCH answers to your INVESTIGATIVE QUESTION about: Measles, diseases, cells, sound, or body systems
WRITE the ANSWERS you find on your website, including the THREE COMPONENTS you chose in your rubric.
CREATE A CREATIVE PROJECT to show us what you learned (choose from the Project Ideas handout OR propose your own!).
EXIT TICKET: Agenda complete for the whole week - CHECK OFF OR CROSS OUT today's assignment if you completed it.

2. How are sound waves are converted into signals that the brain can interpret.
3. How can a disease like measles affect one of the body systems (immune, skeletal, muscular, respiratory, digestive...)
4. How do body systems work together?
5. How is the body organized (use the terms tissues, organ systems, cells, organs and organ systems)?
6. What was the most surprising or interesting thing you learned in this unit about how the body responds to disease?
Do the Ear Attack Practice Test to get ready for tomorrow! If you complete this today with at least a 60%, you get a brownie!
