Stranger Awareness

For our students and children, safety for them is an important expectation. Not only to be safe with each other and at school, but with strangers and in the community. One simple way for our kids to remember this is taken from a curriculum called, “Second Step” and states the three R’s:

  • Recognize (Is it safe? What’s the rule?)

  • Report (Tell an adult)

  • Refuse (Say words that mean no)

An additional article I’ve referred to is from Scholastic. As the title states, it shares tips for Talking About Stranger Safety with kids.
