Welcome to Distance Learning in West Haven Public Schools
Science Distance Learning:
Please have your students spend a minimum of thirty minutes a day on science classroom assignments. Teachers will be uploading assignments onto Google Classroom specific to the course that your student is enrolled in. Progress will be monitored daily by teachers and used to account for attendance.
Assignments:
Students can expect the following assignments to be completed:
Reading assignments
Reading assignments will include, but not be limited to, current event articles, textbook articles, and much more. Reading assignments will have questions to be answered after reading and taking notes.
Video resources
Often the reading assignments will include YouTube links and other video resources to help demonstrate the content discussed in reading assignments and/or to accompany online labs
Virtual Labs -
Students will be given websites that will allow them to participate in virtual labs. They will be required to reflect on what they do in Claim/Evidence/Reasoning reports, reflections, lab reports or through essay questions.
Projects
Students will be assigned projects over extended periods of time. These projects will include power points, essays and much more. Projects will be content specific to each course.
Assessments
In addition to being graded on daily assignments, students will also be given quizzes and tests at the end of units
Steps to take in completing assignments each day
Report to the Science Google Classroom assigned by student's teacher
Review instructions for the daily assignment
Work on the assignment and submit completed work
Students should work on Science assignments for a minimum of thirty minutes a day

Teachers will be available for assistance every day from 9:15 am to 1:05 pm
