West Haven

Online Learning

Welcome to Distance Learning

in West Haven Public Schools

Given the uncertainties facing school districts around the country, we are committed to providing all students in the West Haven Public Schools with an educational experience that closely resembles what they'd be receiving if in school. While distance learning can't replace daily interaction between teachers and students, we can use technology to gain access to tasks and activities that will allow the learning process to continue while schools remain closed. On this portion of our website, you will find information about our online distance learning opportunities for all students.

This Online Learning Website is designed to connect West Haven Public School parents, students and staff with resources the entire District is using during the extended closure. In addition to the lessons and suggested learning sites, our students will be in frequent communication with their teachers.

For families that do not have access to the online resources, work packets can be provided to you by contacting your school and speaking with an administrator. These packets can be emailed directly to parents and students, or hard copies can be made available for pick up at the school by mutual arrangement.

Finally, know that our staff is committed to working closely with you to ensure a sense of normalcy and routine, while we all navigate through these difficult times together.

PreK through Grade Two

Students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade Two (Gr 2) will use this website for daily activities for reading, mathematics, science, physical education and other electives.

In addition, students in Kindergarten through Grade Two are asked to use online resources daily so that teachers can monitor student attendance and progress. These programs are:

Reading A-Z -RAZ Kids (K-4)
Lexia (K-4)
Splash Math (K and gr 1)
I Know It (gr 2-4)

In these grades, it is very important to read with your child every day and engage in play based activities where students are using language to communicate. Teachers will communicate with families frequently to see what activities students are completing, as well as hearing about the books/stories that they are reading.

Grades Three through High School

Students in Grades Three (Gr 3) through Grade Twelve (Gr 12) will use this website as the way to link to content area pages. Daily assignments will be given and monitored by classroom teachers through the Google Classroom platform. Students are familiar with Google Classroom and have been using this resource throughout the school year. If you need additional support, please click on the link What is Google Classroom? to learn more about Google Classroom or ask your child to show you.

For families that do not have access to the online resources, work packets can be provided to families by building level administrators. These packets can be emailed directly to parents and students or hard copies can be made available for pick up at designated locations.

Finally, administrators and teachers will partner with you during this time to provide a continued education for your child. Together, we will collaborate to ensure student engagement and do our best to provide our students with a sense of normalcy and routine for their day.
