Qatar's 8 Stadiums

By: Smyan Das

One of the biggest events of 2022 was the Fifa World Cup in Qatar! Qatar probably over-prepared for the world cup. What will a small country do with 8 stadiums?

The Al Bayt stadium

This stadium can hold up to 68,985 people! If you think this is a lot, there are more stadiums! This stadium will be used as a sports and medical facility. Part of the stadium will transform into a 5 star hotel. It is located in Al Khor City 35 km north of Doha

The next is Lusail stadium which holds up to 88,966 people making it the largest stadium in Qatar. The structure may be used for civic facilities or venues. Personally, I think it should still be used for soccer because it’s really big and it held the finals. Located in Lusail City 20 km north of Doha.

Ahmad Bin Ali stadium holds up to 45,032 people. This stadium will become a sports facility like some others. This stadium was made in the middle of a desert 20 km west of Doha.

The Al Janoub stadium, probably the coolest stadium in Qatar. But with design, it sacrifices space. This is the smallest stadium in Qatar, and it holds up to 44,325 people. It is 22 km south of Doha. It will be reduced to a multi-sport leisure facility.

Al thumana stadium is also cool, it looks like a perfect circle from the top. Seats 44,400 people. It will be home to a football club and a community hub. 12 km south of Doha.

Education City stadium, a shimmering jewel of inspiration holds up to 44,667 people. It will be repurposed as a multipurpose facility for staff. 7 km northwest of Doha.

Khalifa International stadium, this stadium seats 45,857 people and has a running track built around it. It will remain a multi-sport facility and will serve as a museum. 5 km west of Doha.

And I've been saving this one stadium for the last, because it is one unique stadium. Stadium 974, that’s the name, stadium 974. This one is unique because it is used to store shipping containers! Qatar should win an award for innovation and creativity. Anyways, this stadium will now be dismantled and stored to be transpired to destinations with sports infrastructural demands. The capacity of this stadium will now be 0!

Fun fact: 974 is the dialing code for Qatar
