Backward Design

As its name implies, backwards design begins with the question, "what types of learning do I want my students to achieve?" In this workshop, we explore how to apply the principles of backwards design before curating or creating open educational resources (OER).

Accessible Zero Cost Options

Accessibility Checkers in Canvas

Wondering how to use those little green and red dials that show up on your files and images in Canvas? In this workshop, you will learn how to use the three built-in accessibility checkers in Canvas: Ally, the PopeTech Accessibility Guide, and the Canvas RCE Accessibility Checker. 

Determining the Accessibility of Web-based OER

In this workshop, you learn how to use the WAVE Web Accessibility Checker to evaluate web-based OER for accessibility. 

Video, Audio, & Accessibility

This workshop teaches you about accessibility considerations when using audio and video content and explains options for getting videos captioned.

Using CRC Branded Canvas Commons Templates

Learn more about finding and using CRCs LibreTexts Canvas shells. This session covers how to request a development shell, import content from Commons, add assessments and other material, and more.

ZTC eForm Information Session

Learn more about  the zero textbook costs designation form and why the college is collecting this information. This session shows you how to access and fill out the form and what each designation means. 

Students as Teachers: Using Open Pedagogy for Active Learning

Engaging students to create course content not only helps them grasp key concepts, but these projects help faculty fill gaps in curriculum and are another way to address SLOs. This workshop shows how student crowdsourcing is being used to enhance the learning experience and how it could be used to build open educational resources.

LibreTexts Updates for Los Rios

LibreTexts Founder, Delmar Larsen, shares updates to the LibreVerse. This is an OER hosting and creation platform that allows faculty to remix and reuse openly licensed textbooks and homework.

MyOpenMath Exploration

Roy Simpson shows how to find and embed MyOpenMath classes into your Canvas shells.

ASCCC Open Educational Resource Initiative (OERI) Webinars
